The Winery

In the heart of Istria, in Tar, the DeFratta Winery story began in 2022 — a family project born out of the desire for a new beginning and a shared endeavour rooted in a love for the land. The winery's name is no coincidence; it is inspired by the very site on which it stands.

It all started with a decision to turn a new page. Not as a business move, but as a natural continuation of a generational bond with the vine and the olive tree.

A Place Worth Visiting

Vineyards

DeFratta's vineyards sit on carefully chosen sites around Tar, where the combination of red soil, sea air and sunny days gives the grapes an expressive aroma and natural balance. Every parcel is tended with precision and respect for the terroir, so that each bottle retains the purity of the variety and the authenticity of the region.

Today behind us stand four hectares of vineyards, two hectares of olive groves and our own cellar, guided by a clearly defined philosophy and direction.
Istrian Malvasia dominates the vineyards — the variety that most faithfully captures the character of our landscape. Alongside it we cultivate Teran, Merlot and Muscat.
